Kokoro is a female character that first appeared in Dead or Alive 4. Considered both a sweet and polite character, Kokoro was born to Miyako and Fame Douglas as an illegitimate daughter. This makes her the half-sister of Helena Douglas. Characterized as well-mannered and well-spoken, Kokoro is an extremely merciful and gentle woman, with a hospitable nature that even extends to the fighting ring. She is also quite calm, cool, and collected with the ability to maintain her composure in the most heated of situations. In spite of this, she continues to have a short temper in certain occasions, with a propensity towards sudden outbursts when pushed too far.

Powers and Abilities

In spite of her gentle and sweet nature, Kokoro is actually a formidable opponent in the Dead or Alive series due to her natural abilities in the baji quan fighting style. Blaming the sword for her father’s descent into insanity (and eventual death), Ivy decides to forge a magic sword of her known (known as the “Ivy Blade”) in order to seek out and destroy the Soul Edge.

Powers and Abilities

When wielding her one-handed sword (which can also transform into a whip-like weapon at will), Ivy becomes an exceptionally strong and powerful figure within the Soulcalibur series. Capable of striking her opponents at both short and long-range distances (due to variable nature of her weapon), Ivy can easily overwhelm her enemies in battle, as her incorporation of both Western European sword tactics and Eastern European whip techniques are extremely deadly and unpredictable. Combined with her devastating Critical Edge attack, known as the “Guilty Throne,” Ivy is nearly unstoppable in head-to-head matches. As such, she is well-suited for more advanced players, as her offensive and defensive styles require an incredible amount of precision and practice to fully master.

Throughout the Soulcalibur series, Ivy Valentine is portrayed as an obsessive-compulsive individual (similar to that of her deceased father). This trait first manifested itself after the death of her parents, causing Ivy to embark on a course of vengeance. With this newfound focus, she will stop at nothing to achieve her goal, and will actively fight whoever gets in her way. It is also important to note that Ivy is an extremely domineering character in the game, and will actively tease or taunt individuals that she feels is unworthy. Such arrogance, however, often gets Ivy into serious predicaments that could have been avoided (altogether) had she exhibited greater patience and a humbler spirit.
